WarHawgs Adaptive Sports Program The program is comprised of three (3) different sport activities which are deer hunting, wild hog hunting and paint ball. All events take place within a 1.5 hour drive of Dothan, AL.  The location of deer/wild hog hunting will be determined upon obtaining land lease and other permissions.  The paint ball events will be hosted at Dothan Survival Games, Dothan, AL. The deer hunting events are introductory/participant events that will have 36 participants. The number of participants will be reached by conducting separate events with small groups of unique Veterans/Service Members between November 14, 2018 and February 10, 2019.  Each event incorporates 25+ hours of program time in pursuit of wild game. The deer hunting events will have participants that reside throughout the United States and travel will be required for most participants. The deer hunting events can accommodate most disabilities to include: PTSD, TBI, paralysis, amputee, blindness, and others. These events occur in the natural environment free of interferences and manmade interruptions. Each event will incorporate firearm safety, game recognition/tracking/handling, and overview of species specific hunting techniques.  Possible participant benefits include: Introduction to new sport, re-initiation of sport previously partook, reduced anxiety, increased self-confidence, decreased depression, and enhanced quality of life. The wild hog hunting events are introductory/participant events that will have 70 participants. The number of participants will be reached by conducting separate events with small groups of unique Veterans/Service Members between February 23, 2019 and October 21, 2019.  Each event incorporates 16+ hours of program time in pursuit of wild hogs at night.  The wild hog hunting events will have participants that reside throughout the United States and travel will be required for most participants. The wild hog hunting events can accommodate most disabilities to include: PTSD, TBI, paralysis, amputee, blindness, and others. These events occur in the natural environment free of interferences and manmade interruptions. Each event will incorporate firearm safety, game recognition/tracking/handling, and overview of species specific hunting techniques.  Possible participant benefits include: Introduction to new sport, re-initiation of sport previously partook, reduced anxiety, increased self-confidence, decreased depression and enhanced quality of life. The paint ball events are introductory/participant/local competition events that will have 450 participants.  The number of participants will be reached by conducting six (6) events tentatively scheduled for the Months of OCT 2018; MAR 2019; APR 2019; JUN 2019; SEP 2019 and AUG 2019.  At the start of the event, the participants are divided into teams and compete against one another on one of seven (7) different fields.  The paint ball events will have participants from the regional area; however, overnight travel will not be required.  Lunch will be provided as part of the event.  The events will be able to accommodate most disabilities to include: PTSD, TBI, paralysis, amputee, and others.
